Mobilizing collective community action to address the climate emergency

Chapters for Change Book Club

GCAN’s youth-led climate change book club, Chapters for Change, is off to a great start!

From co-leaders Attilio Consigli and Jace McRorie:

Chapters for Change is youth-led and welcoming to all ages, with a goal to create a safe space to explore the climate emergency. At our April meeting 10 members met to discuss Terry Lepage’s Eye of the Storm and enjoyed passionate, lively and sometimes humorous conversations on the book's main themes of grief, coping and taking action. People shared their personal stories around their conflict around the climate crisis, ways they’ve felt inspired, and how they cope with what feels like one battle after another with poor government policy decisions working against environmental conservation. Above all else there was plenty of laughter, respectful dialogue, and colouring pages going around! There is a strong desire to have a climate focused club where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and feelings around what’s going on with the world, while of course reading a book to tie it all together.
The 3rd session in the four part series is taking place May 14th and our next book is Here Comes the Sun, by Bill McKibbon.

Guelph hosts a MEET!

The Mobile Electric Vehicle Education Trailer (MEET) is coming to Guelph as part of Plug’n Drive’s 2026 EVs are for EVeryone Cross-Canada Tour!

What:  A great opportunity to learn about the benefits of driving electric and to book a test drive of some of the latest EV models. Test drives are offered every Thursday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

When:  May 14 to June 14, 2026,

Where:  Victoria Road Recreation Centre, 151 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph, ON N1E 6M2

The MEET is staffed by trained EV Ambassadors from the community who can speak to the electric driving lifestyle.  Get your questions answered and experience the latest in electric vehicle technology in a sales-free, family friendly, no pressure environment.

Click Plug’n Drive  to book your test drive appointment—drop-ins are welcome, but priority will be given to scheduled visitors. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Guelph Climate Action Network is thrilled to have played a part in bringing the MEET to Guelph!  EVs, along with public transit and strong active transportation infrastructure are part of our city’s plans to reduce emissions and help create a Net Zero city.  Programs like MEET provide opportunities to explore practical low-carbon choices and turn awareness into action!

See you at the MEET Guelph!
